Retro Sketchbook Pages 1

For a long time I didn't do much else but fill sketchbooks. These pages are from circa 1998. I didn't like them much when I did them. Now they jump out at me when I look through this book, though the flourescent yellow doesn't reproduce well here. I'll post some more soon.

More Bad Mice

Here are two spreads that I did for the picture book I am working on - It's an adaptation of "The Tale of Two Bad Mice" by Beatrix Potter.

This is for the scene where the mice, Tom Thumb and Hunca Munca first spot the delicious food on the dining room table. In the original it's ham, lobsters, fish and fruit. But in my version I've changed it into an amazing tea with big cakes, buns, trifle and biscuits. (maybe strawberries and cream too...) Shame it all turns out to be fake.

I'm doing some top-secret christmas things, so I've cheated and uploaded some illustrations I did back in May! They were for a Waterstones competition to illustrate Julia Donaldson's new picture book "Freddie and the Fairy"
